An axe throwing venue run by two brothers is hosting a ‘marathon event’ on December 21st to raise money for a North East charity that works across the country to support anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth and the death of a baby or child; 4Louis.
Having become a corporate sponsor in recent months, the venue is dedicated to raising as much money as possible for the charity which works right across the UK, helping families in some of the most heartbreaking and emotionally difficult circumstances.
Manager, Chris Tingle explains: “We all know someone who has been affected by miscarriage or baby loss, either directly or indirectly, and we’ve seen first hand how incredible the work that 4Louis does is during those dark times. It felt natural to support the charity, and if we can raise money through light hearted events while still respecting the serious nature of its work, we are determined to do so.”
In addition to some competitive axe throwing challenges (6PACK, duels, and team laps), there will be festive refreshments and a buffet, prizes for top throwers and best Christmas jumper, a raffle which some incredible prizes which have been donated to by local businesses, and live music.
Corporate Manager at 4Louis, Pat Chambers said: “We are so grateful to The Axe House for making this event happen. Having been to the venue and taken part myself socially, I know that it’s great fun, and it’s an opportunity for us to celebrate and support our work without that being a sombre affair. Our aim as a charity is to brighten the days of those experiencing baby loss and help them to remember their baby, so this light-hearted event enables us to raise funds but not potentially discourage people from attending if they were to think it would be full of sadness.”
Axe throwing has become hugely popular in the UK in recent years, and brothers Chris and Callum Tingle have invested in a more unusual venue to attract people to the hobby, which is covered roof to floor in UV paint and graffiti art. As well as being open to the public generally, the company offers team nights and parties as well as seasonal and charity events, such as this.
Before customers take over the lanes, the experienced team of axe throwers who have been throwing axes for many years will teach them how the game works. Customers will learn how to hold and throw an axe, and maybe even show off a trick shot or two. All groups are also given a quick but essential safety briefing beforehand.
