Merritts Solicitors, a law firm based on Yarm High Street, has welcomed the return of a Partner to the firm, who had previously been with the company for eight years.

Merritts Solicitors LLP is an independent firm that has been a face on the High Street for almost 60 years and offers a wide range of services, both personal and commercial.

The firm has welcomed back Paula Warburton, Partner, who brings with her 38 years’ legal experience, with a particular focus on estate planning and trust advice. Paula joins fellow Partner Joanne Jackson in the private client department, having previously worked alongside her at another firm.

Paula said: “I am delighted to return to Merritts, which was prompted by a desire to return to a High Street practice serving the local community and a real desire to return to the firm itself. Returning to Yarm and to Merritts feels like coming home again. The growth in demand means that there is more than enough work to support two full-time private client partners, and we have also taken on a trainee to further expand and grow the department. It is great to have the team back together working with Joanne again.”

Paula obtained her degree at Oxford University and qualified in 1988 at a practice in Lancashire, later moving to the North East and joining Merritts in 1994; she became a Partner in 1998 before taking a career break and then working for other local and national firms until a role became available at Merritts.

Managing Partner, Matthew Moran, says, “I’m delighted to welcome Paula back to Merritts. She is an excellent solicitor and truly embodies everything we stand for – not only delivering outstanding legal services but also meeting the needs of local residents who value being able to speak face-to-face with friendly, approachable people. When Paula previously worked at Merritts, I was only in my late teens, working as the office junior. It feels very strange, but also fantastic, to now be working together again, both in the roles of partners.”

Merritts Solicitors continues to champion the local community and remains committed to providing accessible, high-quality legal services on the High Street.
