A solicitor’s firm based on Yarm High Street is celebrating one of its senior partners, who has been with the firm for 35 years.
Merritts Solicitors LLP is an independent firm that has been a face on the High Street for almost 60 years and offers a wide range of services both personal and commercial.
Helen Baxter joined Merritts in 1991, becoming a partner in 2005, and has over 35 years’ experience of acting in a wide variety of litigation matters and disputes. She specialises in family matters and acts for individuals and businesses in all litigation matters including complex high value disputes. She also deals with employment matters. In addition, Helen serves as Staff Partner, the go-to person for employees, as well as Complaints Partner and Money Laundering Officer. Helen plays a crucial role in running and driving the business forward while maintaining strong staff relations, all alongside managing a demanding caseload.
Managing Partner, Matthew Moran said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work alongside Helen all these years. She is an asset to Merritts and embodies everything that we stand for – not just providing excellent legal services, but meeting the needs of local residents who can still come in and speak to local people who are friendly and approachable”.
Helen obtained a law degree from Hull University before completing her solicitor’s finals at Northumbria University.
Helen said: “I have loved the last 35 years here at Merritts, the time has genuinely flown by, and it’s been a pleasure to see the business continue to grow and succeed. We have an excellent team, based in beautiful offices on Yarm High Street, and I love the way that we support and are fully involved in our local community.”
Merritts champions the local community through supporting events, sports teams and community initiatives, as well as sourcing from independent shops such as Diana Kaye Florist, who provides the office flowers, Yarm DIY, who provides the annual Christmas tree, Browns who have provided flooring and carpets for the offices over many years and hosting celebrations at restaurants and bars on the High Street.
